Battle of the Bands

Hundreds of local teens will gather on Saturday night, October 15 at Sandy Run Middle School, Upper Dublin Township to cheer on their favorite singers as the first annual Battle of the Bands competition takes place in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event will feature performances by rock bands and a soloist from area high schools.

The night’s scheduled lineup features Dry Reef from Upper Dublin, Vitals from Wissahickon, Members Only from Cheltenham and Nobody Famous from Central Bucks.  Dan Hicks from Hatboro Horsham is the scheduled soloist.  The musical acts will be judged on talent by professionals in the music industry as well as the excitement roused by local fans showing support for their own high school.

Funds raised at the Battle of the Bands will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Upper Dublin resident  Michael Franklin is coordinating the fundraiser in honor of his daughter, Jessica, who battles this chronic genetic disease. Cystic fibrosis (CF) creates lung infections and inflammation and, eventually, progressive lung destruction. Years ago children with CF did not survive past elementary school. Today the median age of survival has reached the mid-30s. It is the mission of the Foundation – and the October 15 event - to develop the means to control and cure CF.
