van Gogh and God

The public is invited to a lecture by Dr. Barley on van Gogh and God, on March 13th at 6:30. It is free.  Did you ever wonder what all the fuss it about? Van Gogh is an intriguing character. He struggled with his relationships, with his God, with his vocation and his mental health. However, his spirituality and desire to preach became more and more evident as each failure sought to take his life. His paintings express a unique perspective in that day and age where no other painter paid attention to the lower class.  He questions, reveals his playfulness, intrigues, scares, and even forces himself on others at times. van Gogh was a tormented man abandoned by most yet loved by many. This lecture will cover some of his paintings, his thoughts through his letters to his brother Leo, and his spirituality that ran deep and felt often troublesome.
