GA Sports: Girls Hoops Holds off Notre Dame, 46-45

Patriots hold on to pick up win on the road.

 The Patriots held on to beat Notre Dame, 46-45, in Wednesday's Inter-Ac League showdown at Notre Dame after jumping out to an 11-4 first quarter lead and taking a 30-16 advantage into halftime. The hosts battled back in the second half and outscored GA 29-16, but the Patriots managed to return home with a 'W.'

Kiernan McCloskey '13 led GA with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Jaryn Garner '12 and Fran Sweeney '13 each added 11 points apiece. Garner also had eight steals. Dempsey Cooper '13 gave GA the final lead in the closing minutes of the contest by hitting a big-time jumper in the lane. Cooper finished with two points. Natalie Toner '13 chipped in with five points.

Kathleen Fitzpatrick and Megan McGurk powered Notre Dame with 19 and 16 points, respectively.
