GA Sports Round-up: Lady LAX and Softball Move to 2-0

There's a common theme amongst the Germantown Academy sports teams in their early spring seasons: winning. That's always a good theme to have, as both the girls' lacrosse and softball teams have started the year 2-0. Meanwhile, the baseball team sits at .

The lady LAX team earned its two victories against Kennett High and Princeton Day.

Against Princeton Wednesday, the Lady Patriots raced out to a 10-4 halftime lead before cruising to a 13-8 win.

GA was lead by Brooke Kiley, who tallied four goals in the contest. Kelli Stack also had a solid day for the Lady Patriots, scoring three while adding an assist. Cooper Hall led Germantown Academy with three assists, while goalie Natalie Cunningham made seven saves.

Against Kennett High, the team earned an 18-16 victory after nearly relinquishing a 12-6 halftime lead.

Again Kiley led Germantown Academy with six goals with three assists, while Hanna Bogorowski chipped in four scores and Hall and Stack three apiece. Caroline Haynie would also tally five assists and a goal, while Cunningham made eight saves.

The Germantown Academy softball team is also off to a quick start, shutting out the Community Academy of Phildelphia 13-0 Wednesday to move to 2-0 on the season. Pitcher Brynn Riesenberg pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Patriots, striking out 10 in the five innings of play.

GA would score three in the top of the first, which would prove to be all they would need. However, the Ladys Pats kept the pedal to the floor, scoring four in the second and five in the third to turn the game into a route.
