Gallery: Fort Washington Fire Company Holds Fundraiser at Udder Delight
On Wednesday, April 27, the Fort Washington Fire Company held a fundraiser at Udder Delight, which is developing quite the reputation as a fundraising hot spot.
On Wednesday night, friends, family members and local ice cream lovers turned out to support the Fort Washington Fire Company during a fundraising event at Udder Delight ice cream shop in Dresher.
Opened three years ago, Udder Delight offers over 25 delicious, homemade flavors of ice cream, ranging from peanut butter and jelly to jalapeño chip.
The independently owned ice cream shop also sells an array of floats, smoothies, water ice, soft-serve ice cream, fat-free yogurt and 52 different flavors of milkshakes.
Stephen Fine, the owner of Udder Delight, happily provides a venue for fundraising events to give back to the community.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Recruitment and Retention program, which contributes to such events as the firefighter family picnic and a Christmas party.
In addition to answering the call of duty, the Fort Washington firefighters also spend time visiting local elementary schools and speaking to grades K-5 about fire prevention.
"They are offered the opportunity to sit in the truck, try on some of our gear, and we have a hose line set up to shoot at a target," said Tom McDonald, a 41-year-old firefighter, who was operating the entertainment offered for children.
"There were many firefighters here today to answer questions and encourage the children. We would like to thank Stephen and Udder Delight for hosting this event for us," he continued.
