Gas Files 8/16: Dresher the Spot for Gas Savings.

Prices have separated into two clear categories, and Dresher's the place to go.

This week's Gas Files is a tale of two stories, as the six major gas stations we monitor have fallen into categories: expensive and cheap.

While the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.70, the Exxon and Sunoco stations in Dresher lead the way at $3.59 each. However, the Exxon station is two cents cheaper than Sunoco for Plus, and four cents cheaper for Premium.

The in Dresher is just behind the two stations, with a price of $3.61 for a gallon of regular.

Then comes the other end of the spectrum, as prices jump 18 cents to the Maple Glen Exxon, at $3.79 for a gallon. The Ambler and Fort Washington Lukoil both sit two cents higher, at $3.81.

That makes a 22 cents a gallon difference in filling up a tank of gas at one of the two cheaper stations, as opposed to one of the two most expensive. When filling up a 12-gallon tank, that equates to a savings of $2.64.
