George E. Monasky, 75, of, Ambler
George Monasky was a US Navy Dental Officer, before he retired from the military and took a teaching position at Temple University.

George E. Monasky, 75, of, Ambler PA, died on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012.
Born in Browndale, PA on July 18, 1936 to the late George and Minnie Monasky. He graduated from the University of Scranton and went on to the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry graduating in 1960. Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy as a Dental Officer and was immediately stationed at Norfolk Navy Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA. He then transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he served on his first of 4 ships, the USS Maury followed over his career by the USS Cadmus, USS Canopus and USS Holland.
While stationed at Pearl Harbor he met and then married Army Capt Barbara L. Frahm, Nurse Corps on September 11, 1963. George and Barbara then transferred to the Boston Navy Shipyard, Boston, MA followed by Charleston Navy Shipyard and then Prosthodontics training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating from the Masters Program at UNC, he and his family transferred to Newport, RI, then to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba followed by his last duty station Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA.

Upon retirement from active duty as a Commander from the US Navy, George then accepted a faculty appointment in the Prosthodontics Department at The Temple University School of Dentistry. Over his 32 years of teaching at Temple University, Dr. Monasky achieved the rank of full Professor. He mentored and inspired numerous young dentists as they embarked on their professional careers.
He was a member of the American Dental Association, The American College of Prosthodontists, The Pennsylvania Prosthodontics Association and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years Barbara L. Monasky in 2009, his parents, George and Minnie Monasky, and his brother John G. Monasky. He is survived by his children Johanna M. (Edward) Kolonsky of Shenandoah, PA, George A. (Catherine) Monasky of New Galilee, PA, Julie A. (Wayne) Hess of Abbottstown, PA and Dr. Ann B. Monasky, CDR, DC, US Navy, and his grandchildren Maria C. and Edward J. Kolonsky III and Sophia R. Monasky.
George was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen for 32 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to call after 10:00 AM Friday June 8, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Church 1565 Temple Drive maple Glen with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Quan Trihn as celebrant.
Interment will be Saturday in St. John's Cemetery, Forest City, PA.
Remembrances in his name to St. Alphonsus Church, Sister Parish Scholarship Fund, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002 would be appreciated by the family.
