June 2: Five Things to Know Today

Check out 'Five Things' for events and information.

  1. The Upper Dublin girls lacrosse team ended its postseason run yesterday with a 13-10 loss to Downingtown East. We'll have the game story for you later today.
  2. Philly Beer Week kicks off today, and you can get a taste of the suds at P.J. Welihan's during its "" featuring 25 craft beers for only $3 each. Fort Washington's will also be holding specials that we'll highlight next week.
  3. The heat is dipping just the slightest bit, with temperature highs falling into the 70s for the next three days. However, the 10-day forecast shows things heating up again. It's often several degrees cooler at Robbins Park, our park of the week, so that might be worth a visit.
  4. Did you know that anyone can blog for us? If you haven't seen our Local Voices section, it's filled with a number of local experts sharing their knowledge of topics, including today's post by political journalist Sean Rossman about how the state government is fuddling with transportation funds. Think you could write a blog? Email editor Kyle Bagenstose at Kyle@Patch.com.
  5. A fun connection: Do you know Joyce Guariglia? If you've ever visited the front desk or records room of the Upper Dublin Police Department, she probably was the one who helped you to find what you were looking for. However, she's also a talented artist, and we highlighted her work last April. Know of somebody else doing interesting things, right here in our community? Tip us off at Kyle@Patch.com.
