Live blog: Upper Dublin (3-2) vs. Upper Merion (1-3)

6:57- Eliot Shorr-Parks and I are on site. Starting line-ups are being annouced. The Cardinals appear to have the size advantage.

Q1 5:56. UD wins tip, but turns over on first two possessions. Upper Merion 4, UD 2.

Q1 4:54. Upper Merion scores, and 1 opportunity missed. Foul on the other end, UD inbounds and misses, Upper Merion hits midrange shot. 9-2 Upper Merion

Q1 4:50 Owens makes 1 of 2 at the free throw line, UM misses ensuing possesion. 9-3 UM.

Q1 3:00 DeCamara hits a big 3. UM 9 UD 6

Q1  1:37 UM #12 slam dunk, Owens fouled on ensuing possession, makes 1. UM 11 UD 7

Q1 end Teams exchange turnovers, followed by a foul on UD. Upper Merion inbounds  and misses 3. Upper Dublin blocks, runs the floor, but misses open lay-up. Upper Merion scores inside off of offensive rebound. A UD travel gives UM final possession, which results in missed 3. Score after 1, Upper Merion 13, Upper Dublin 7. Turnover plagued quarter for both teams, with missed opporunities and too many offensive boards for Upper Merion.

Q2 6:52 Upper Merion opens with 3, UD misses long jumper from the wing on first possession, but gets ball back on Zarwin steal.

Q2 5:50 UD's #4 hit layup, and fouled. Misses at the free throw line. Upper Merion fouls after a defensive rebound. UD in the bonus, but misses the front end of a 1 and  UM 16, UD 9

Q2 4:51 Khalil Owens fouled, goes to the line and makes both shots. Upper Merion fouled on ensuing possession, inbounds, fouled again in the act of shooting. Makes 1 of 2. Khalil Owns called for offensive foul on the other end.

Q2 3:45 Upper Merion hits another 3.  UM 20 UD 11

Q2 2:03 Owens with an offensive board and put back, but UD's shooting woes continue. Have missed a number of point blank baskets, and are not capitalizing on free throw opportunities. A 3 second violation gives UM the ball, leading 20-13

Q2 1:00 UD hits shot, UM misses free throw at other end. UD's #15 makes close range shot, and is fouled. Converts free throw to pull UD within 2, 20-18.

End Q2 UM makes close-range shot, UD misses 3 from corner on ensuing possession. UM drives to hoop with 12 on the clock, fouled on the way up, makes 1. Score at half Upper Merion 23, Upper Dublin 18. Upper Dublin uses late Q2 run to close score after a number of turnovers and missed opportunities. Stand-by for pictures.

Q3 4:16 Upper Merion deep 3 pushes lead back to 8. UM 30, UD 22. 

Q3 2:00 Owens with a nice spin and take to the basket, UM fouled on the other end and back to the line, making both. UD empty possession, followed by UM drive and make. UD DeCamara with another 3, pulls within 7. UM 34-UD 27 

Q3 1:05  UM hits 3, but Owens for UD with quick 2 point answer. An empty possession by UM leads to a UD #15 drive and lay-up. UM calls a timeout. UM 37, UD 31. 

Q3 end UM drive and lay-up misses, UD rebound followed by UM steal and travel. Teams trade turnovers before UD coach Adelman calls timeout with :20 on the clock. An Owens make is followed by a miss by UM. UD pulls within 4 at the end of 37-33. 

Q4  6:22 Final quarter opens with Owens make of 5 footer, UM answers with yet another 3. UD's DeCamara's shot off iron goes up and over backboard. UM #13 hits tough shot to push lead to 42-35. 

Q4 5:00 Big block by Owens leads to another missed breakaway layup by the Cardinals shots are not falling their way tonight. UM hits another 3, UD follows with a bucket. UM 45- UD 37.

Q4  3:00 Owens bucket answered by a UM drive in the lane for 2. UM gets ball back and a 3 rims out, UD hits deep 2. Timeout Upper Merion. Upper Merion 47 - Upper Dublin 41.

Q4 2:19 UM travels on possession out of timeout. UD's DeCamara hits another 3 to pull UD with 3. UM 47-UD 44. Game's getting exciting.

Q4 :50 UD steals inbound and is fouled, but can't convert at the line. UM empty possession followed by UD missed 3.  #13 for UM with nice drive to the basket, very fast. UD's Harrison hits 5 footer, and 1, makes. UM 49-UD 47 with :50 to play

Q4 UD playing tough D, trying to avoid fouling and get the ball back. Timeout. 49-47 Upper Merion, to inbound with :50 to play.

Q4 :03Lane violation during second free throw gives UD a chance to tie on 3. UD misses 3, but gets offensive rebound. 14.9 to play with UD inbounding, down 3. Inbound swings around. Finds Owns underneath, who spins and hits for 2. 3.3 seconds left, UM to inbound.

Q4 :02UD fouls off inbound. UM hits both fouls on other end. UD to inbound, down 52-49 with 2 seconds left.

GAME END  Upper Dublin's desperation heave at the buzzer hits top of backboard, misses.

Final score Upper Merion 52- Upper Dublin 49.
