Pairings for District 1 basketball tournaments announced
The Lady Cardinals are seeded seventh and will open play against Coatesville, while the boys were selected as the 25th seed and will travel to North Penn.

Yesterday, the brackets and seeding for the boys' and girls’ District 1 AAAA basketball tournaments were announced, and the Flying Cardinals appear in both.
The girls team had a fantastic 19-3 (10-2) regular season, and was thus rewarded with the seventh seed in the 32-team field. They will first take on 26th-seeded Coatesville (15-7, 7-5) Saturday, Feb. 19, and play at home, thanks to the higher seed.
Should they win, the girls will host another home game against either 10th-seeded Council Rock South or 23rd-seeded Unionville. Last year, District One sent nine teams to the state tournament. Check out the girls' full bracket.

The boys' team, whose playoff hopes were in doubt after dropping their final game of the regular season to Wissahickon to finish with an 11-11 (3-9) record, were selected and received the 25th seed. They will take on eighth-seeded North Penn (14-3, 8-2) away Friday, Feb. 18. Should they pull the upset, they’ll square off against either ninth-seeded Bensalem or 24th-seeded Strath Haven.
