School Board Slated to Accept Dr. Deborah Wheeler Retirement
Dr. Wheeler will be stepping down from her position as Superintendent at the conclusion of the school year to focus on family.

JANUARY 4…With sincere fondness and appreciation for her commitment to the School District of Upper Dublin, the Board of Directors will be accepting the retirement request of Dr. Deborah S. Wheeler, who will be stepping down from her position as Superintendent at the conclusion of the school year to focus on family obligations. Her request is slated for School Board approval on January 8.
April of 2018 will mark Dr. Wheeler’s 10 years of superintendency, four of which were served within the School District of Upper Dublin starting in 2014.
“Upper Dublin is blessed with such a wonderful school board, administration, faculty and community,” said Dr. Wheeler. “I am very proud of the extent of our collaborative work over these past four years, always with the shared intent to support every Upper Dublin student, and am convinced that the District is well positioned to continue that good work.”

According to Wheeler, the high points of her tenure within Upper Dublin include serving as Superintendent while the District was fostering linkages within the community, creating innovative curriculum and programmatic work, and engaging stakeholders in the budget planning process.
“The work we have done to support equity among all students by understanding the influence of various cultures and meeting individual student’s needs is, by far, my biggest source of pride,” Dr. Wheeler reflected.

Upon retirement, Dr. Wheeler said she is looking forward to spending more time with her family. She will also continue to teach graduate level classes to the next generation of school administrators at Gwynedd Mercy University and Quinnipiac University.
“The School Board congratulates Dr. Wheeler on her retirement and all that she has contributed to public education,” said School Board President Art Levinowitz.
The School Board will move quickly in selecting a firm to assist in the search process for a new superintendent. “Community input will also play a vital role in the process and I anticipate that we will have a multi-step plan for ensuring Upper Dublin residents are given opportunities to share their vision for the qualities the District should seek in its next superintendent,” said Levinowitz.
