Softball: Lady Cardinals Sweep Season Series Against Cheltenham

The Lady Cardinals scored early and often to claim their second conference win of the 2011 season.

In desperate need of a game changing performance, and a second conference win, the Lady Cardinals turned to their senior leader Rachel Mintz to snap a three game losing streak.

Mintz responded, scattering three hits over seven solid innings. She added six strike outs and walked five batters. The strong outing was enough to get the win as the Lady Cardinals bats came to life.

The Cardinals took an early first inning lead (2-0) as the first five batters all reached base.  The Panthers were finally able to tie the game up on a two out rally in the third inning. An inning later the Panthers took the lead, four to three, when Sabrina Casseus crossed the plate.

Able to hold their composure, the Cardinals game roaring back as an Ashley Sharp double knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs in the fourth inning.

A fifth inning Shannon Bolger RBI ground-out capped off the scoring. The Lady Cardinals were able to retire the Panthers one-two-three in the top of the seventh and earn their third win of the season.
