Sports Wrap for Sept. 19

UD field hockey takes its first loss, and Germantown Academy field hockey wins a pair.

Upper Dublin

The Upper Dublin field hockey finally suffered its first loss in heartbreaking fashion Friday, losing in overtime 2-1 to Conestoga.

Kelly Cross took a pass from Emily Hitchings to net the lone goal for the Cardinals mid-way through the first half. Early in the second, it was Conestoga’s Britta Hjlem who forced the extra period of play. Oliver Everts gave Conestoga the win at 14:25 in OT to win the non-conference match up.

The Lady Cardinals were kept in the game mainly due to the outstanding play of goalkeeper Dana Russell, who made 10 saves.
