Twin Spring Farm Day School Visits Cradles to Crayons for a Day of Serivce

First and second grade students, learn valuable life lessons through Service Learning Projects at TSF.

AMBLER, PA: Every year, the Twin Spring Farm Day School Elementary classes, participate in Service Learning Projects. Some are fundraisers held on campus like a food drive or collecting items for various causes (dental supplies and pet shelters) and others involve field trips, such as the one they took this week to the Cradles to Crayons facility in Conshohocken, PA.

Led by Mrs. Seligman and Mr. Rosa, 12 students in first and second grade, organized and collected several bags of donated items and volunteered at the facility by sorting and cleaning donated items like games, puzzles, and toys. They had to check to make sure all the parts and pieces were included and that each item was properly cleaned. Cradles to Crayons only provides families in-need with quality donated items. Therefore, having volunteers assist with cleaning and packaging the products the right way is important and necessary.

Through hands-on volunteer work, students gain valuable life lessons and stronger understanding of the world around them. Twin Spring Farm Day School recognizes the importance of character education and social development throughout the curriculum, which is why the students participate in a service project every month. Not only does it enrich the learning environment, but it builds on the notion of teaching the whole child.

From Cradles to Crayon to Twin Spring Farm Day School:

"We really appreciate your contributions as we continue to serve homeless and low-income children in the Southeastern Pennsylvania counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia.

Because of YOU, we will be able to provide clothes, shoes, books, school supplies, baby equipment and other items for a child who is in dire need. This child will now have the items needed to feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued.

In Philadelphia and as importantly in the surrounding counties, more than 317,000 children ages birth through 12 live in poverty-stricken households. If their families are already struggling to pay for rent, utilities, and groceries, then providing clothing and shoes that fit, coats and boots to keep them warm and dry, and books, and school supplies to encourage learning are out of reach. Your donations to Cradles to Crayons are absolutely essential if we are able to help fill this critical need. And why it is so appreciated.

This year, Cradles to Crayons will provide these essentials to over 54,000 children. On behalf of these children and their families, everyone at Cradles to Crayons thanks you for taking action and providing these essentials that children need most."
