UD Sports: Lady LAX Drops Abington in Opener, 15-5

When the Upper Dublin girls lacrosse team left Abington last March with a 10-6 loss in their first game of the year, they also seemed to leave with a sense of purpose. The team ran off 11 straight wins en route to a 16-7 (12-0) record that saw them qualify for the state playoffs.

It appears that inspiration has returned to the Lady Cardinals in 2012, as they used seven goals from senior standout Kelly Cross to dispatch the Ghosts 15-5 at home on Friday. Cross is one piece of a that also contains attacker Brooke Callahan and defender Emily Hitchings. Callahan chipped in with three goals and Hitchings with one in the contest.

Sophomore attacker Taylor D'Ginto added two goals and an assist, while goalie Sarah Gallagher made six saves.

The team next plays Cheltenham at home this Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
