UD Sports: Tennis Stays Perfect with Win over PW, 6-1

Move to 3-0 on the year.

The Upper Dublin boys tennis team continued its early season tear on Friday, defeating league rival Plymouth-Whitemarsh, 6-1.

The Cardinals once again looked strong in doubles play, with three of four teams defeating their opponents. The first doubles tandem of Matt Swiren and Adam Chernow was the only team that used all three sets, as the duo defeated Matt Sylvester and Jordan Mitchell 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.

The second doubles team of Tommy O'Brien and Matt Paston and third doubles team of Kevin Wu and Adam Spiker both bested their opponents in straight sets.

Joe Kwon and Daf Kofsky played tough in fourth doubles, but ultimately dropped their match 6-3, 6-4.

In singles play, Hari Murali dispatched opponent Scott Leopold in two sets, 6-2, 7-6. Second singles also won in straight sets when Upper Dublin's Jason Chavenson defeated Nike Colton, and Upper Dublin's Jerry Li battled to a win over Andrew Luber in third singles, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6.

The team next takes to the courts Thursday when they travel to Upper Merion for a 3:30 p.m. match.
