Upper Dublin Lady LAX Gets ESPN Nod

Players, team profiled in Pennsylvania preview

ESPN has shined its bright, sporty spotlight on the Upper Dublin girls' lacrosse team, mentioning the squad in its season preview for Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania girls' lacrosse has seen an increase in talent and competition, the article says, naming Garnet Valley High School as a highly-ranked team nationally and the squad to beat in the Keystone State.

However, ESPN also says Upper Dublin will be a force to be reckoned with and wrote:

"There was a lot to be happy with the success within the Suburban league conference last season for [Upper Dublin]. Yet their brewing rivalry with Wissahickon will make for two of the best games this season as the Cardinals try to remain the best team in the conference. Senior midfielder Kelly Cross (Syracuse) can only be contained, not stopped and leads a senior class that aims to remain undefeated in the league for their entire high school careers."

The article also named Cross to its "starting lineup," or all-state roster. Cross has already to play for national powerhouse Syracuse next year. Senior defender Stephanie Speese was named as one of the "underclassmen to watch," and Upper Dublin's April 16 matchup with the Trojans as a "game to watch." Speese has signed a letter of intent to play for Franklin & Marshall College next year.

In addition to Cross, the Lady Cardinals are led by senior midfielder Michele DeVincent, who has signed a letter of intent to play for University of California- Berkeley, and attacker Brooke Callahan, who will take her talents to Lafayette University.

Germantown Academy's senior defender/midfielder Brooke Kiley was also named to ESPN's all-state team.

Upper Dublin will open their season on March 23 at home against Abington at 3:30 p.m.
