Upper Dublin Wins $1.3M Grant To Build New Middle School
Upper Dublin has received a large grant to help build the new eco-friendly Sandy Run Middle School.
UPPER DUBLIN, PA — Upper Dublin has received a large grant to help build the new eco-friendly Sandy Run Middle School.
The school district received a grant of $1.38 million from the state as part of the Alternative and Clean Energy program.
“I’m delighted,” State Rep. Ben Sanchez (D-Montgomery) said in announcing the grant Tuesday. "I’m proud of the Upper Dublin School District and our community for taking these bold strides to protect our environment and keep our future green."

The current Sandy Run Middle School will be demolished, and the new "high performance" school will be built to LEED gold certification standards.
Some of the features of the building will include LED lighting systems, an energy efficient HVAC system, water conservation fixtures, and a solar array of 215 kilowatts.

Officials expect the new building will bring a 42 percent reduction in energy usage, and a 30 percent reduction in water usage.
