William S. Walter, 82, Formerly of Fort Washington

Bill was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 on the USS Siboney.

William S. Walter, 82 of Telford PA, formerly of Fort Washington, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday may 14, 2012 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.

Born in Roslyn, PA, he was the son of the late Linford and the late Anna Mary (nee Franks) Walter.

Bill was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 on the USS Siboney. Following discharge he was employed by Virnelson's Bakery for a number of years. He was a Brunswick Bowling Machine Mechanic for 40 years, employed with 30th Street Station Bowling Lanes in Philadelphia, Willow Grove Lanes, Willow Grove Moose Lodge, and the Thunderbird Lanes prior to retiring from that career. Mr. Walter was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church Family in Telford where he also served as the Sexton for many years prior to retiring for health reasons in 2010.

Bill was very talented with all kinds of wood working, and during his lifetime created countless beautiful carvings including holiday decorations, Walt Disney Characters replicas, full-sized Nativity sets, and a treasured large-sized carousel replica. Bill also loved baking and had an extensive collection of cookbooks and recipes that he enjoyed making.

Bill is the beloved father of Barbara Anne Lynch (wife of Robert) of Telford, William Sellers Walter Jr. of Skippack, Joseph Kevin Walter of Forest Lake, MN. and the late Cheryl Ann Walter who died in 1968. He is the loving grandfather of Caroline and Matthew Lynch and Brett Walter, Brother of Charles Walter of Warminster and the late Linford S Walter Jr, and Anna Mary Giroud of Willow Grove, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday May 21, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church 295 S. Main St. Telford, PA. 18969 with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.
