Ad Agency Softball Tournament Raises $2,000 for Cancer Support Community

Spark, Klunk & Millan, and swb&r -- three advertising and public relations agencies in the Lehigh Valley -- raised more than $2,000 for the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley during a four game, round-robin softball tournament at in South Whitehall on Saturday, Aug. 18.

“Spark, Klunk & Millan and swb&r really hit it out of the park for the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Diane Moody, development director of the organization.

“It was great to see the fun and camaraderie shared between teammates while they played their hearts out to help people affected by cancer. Each dollar will be used to support the 60 programs we offer to 325 people each month in the Greater Lehigh Valley. I hope we will be able to do this again next year, everyone had a blast.”

“It was heartwarming to see three competitive businesses come together to support a worthwhile cause,” said Mike Drabenstott, principal of Spark. “Friendships were made and rekindled, hamstrings were pulled, and bodies emerged sore and bruised in the spirit of charity and a darn good time.”

Spark defeated Klunk & Millan 14-3 to kick off the tournament. Klunk & Millan rebounded to beat swb&r 16-4, securing themselves a spot in the title game.

The game of the tournament had to be the Spark vs. swb&r contest. Down 6-2 after an swb&r grand slam, Spark surged to a dramatic walk-off 7-6 victory in the final inning with a bases-clearing double. In the title game, Klunk & Millan avenged their first-round loss by defeating Spark 17-13. Although only one team could reign victorious, all three succeeded in raising money for a great cause.
