Hotel on Tilghman Street temporarily shut down because of recurring carbon monoxide problem

An Upper Macungie hotel where a man died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 2008 is closed because of another gas leak problem.

Township Fire Commissioner Grant Grim closed the on Tilghman Street because of elevated carbon monoxide levels, according to this Morning Call report.

Township officials must deem the 77-room hotel safe for occupancy before it can resume business. The Best Western could reopen as early as Thursday.

A 63-year old man died of carbon monoxide poisoning at the hotel three years ago and several other guests were sickened. Every room is now equipped with a carbon monoxide detector.
