Buddy Walk Will Bring Crowd to Trexlertown

800 people are expected for Sept. 24 event

More than 800 people are expected for the annual Down Sydrome set for Saturday, September 24 at and the in Trexlertown.

The walk is one of biggest events of the year for the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Sydrome Center, which assists people with Down Syndrome and their families.

Opening ceremonies will be held at 2:45 p.m. followed by the walk at 3 p.m. Activities for kids will include a moon bounce, trackless train ride, face painting, spin art and more.

Admission for participants who have not pre-registered will be $10 for ages 3-9, $15 for anyone 9 and older. Kids under 3 and anyone with Down Syndrome will be admitted free of charge.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, but it's more about awareness. We're all more alike than we are different," said Maria Floryshak of the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center.

About 250 Buddy Walks will be held nationwide in observance of Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
