Homeschool Classes
The Da Vinci Science Center will hold its May Homeschool Classes.

Grades 1-2 A Field Guide to Trees: Students will develop their own field guide to trees while observing and drawing several varieties of tree in the Cedar Crest College arboretum with guidance from an arboretum tour guide. Students will participate in activities involving the fruits that trees produce, but no tree nuts will be used during the class. Students are asked to dress appropriately for outside activities and bring rain gear.
Grades 3-4 Slime: Students will compare different types of slime before designing and conducting controlled experiments that create their own slime. Students will utilize scientific thinking processes to conduct investigations and build explanations.
Grades 5-7 Solutions: Students will investigate solutions and use column chromatography to explore the differences between soluble and insoluble materials. Students will determine percent composition for different solutions and engage the concept of concentration in a solution, which is the ratio of solute to solvent. Students are asked to wear clothing that may get dirty for each session along with the safety glasses provided by the Center and a lab coat if they have one.
