Free Fireworks Means Free Family Entertainment

It’s that time of year when everyone digs up their best red, white and blue attire and heads out for a weekend of hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, juicy watermelon and other tasty picnic fare.

Independence Day is a super time to take advantage of the free family entertainment throughout our region.

You and your family can enjoy our country’s independence AND have a low-cost, unique night out with friends.

Locally, the township and Carl Schmoyer III hosts its own free fireworks show, set to patriotic and contemporary rock music. Bring your own chair or blanket.

Here is a list of other local fireworks displays throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley:

Allentown

Dorney Park: July 3 and 4 (9:30 p.m.) Admission is required to enter Dorney Park. However, you can take the family to any of the surrounding parking lots or parks to view the display. To round things out, grab a $1 hot fudge sundae at McDonald’s, or go for the real deal at Ice Cream World on Hamilton Boulevard.

J. Birney Crum Stadium:  July 4 (6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.) Admission is free to the stadium, but donations are welcomed. Fireworks display can be seen from all over the City of Allentown and outlying areas.

Bethlehem

Bethlehem Steel Stacks:  July 4 (Noon - 9:30 p.m.) FREE Entertainment includes these amazing events at Air Products Town Square:

• Noon - 6 p.m. - Children's Craft Area
• Noon - 2 p.m. - Apple Pie Eating Contest
• Noon - 5:30 p.m. - Once Upon a Nation
• Noon - 5:30 p.m. - Chris Ruggriero
• 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Junk Rock
• 8 p.m - Allentown Symphony at Levitt Pavilion Steel Stacks
• Dusk - Fireworks display follows the concert. This is going to be an amazing display right at the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces!

Quakertown

Quakertown Memorial Park: July 4 (7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.) The Quakertown Band will host a free show starting at 7:30 pm. Fireworks display will follow at the park on Mill Street, Quakertown.
