FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK
This week we offer ideas for exploring Indian culture, finding out what makes the Earth work, and a chance to take your match box cars out for a spin.

1. "Kachinas: Spirit Dolls of the Hopi"
When/Where: Open from noon until 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Museum of Indian Culture located at 2825 Fish Hatchery Road in Allentown.
Why Go: More than 70 hand-carved and hand-painted wooden figures based on Hopi kachinas, carved by George Melloy, retired Bethlehem Steel Metallurgical Engineer. If the weather is nice head to nearby Lil-Le-Hi Trout Nursery for more fun.
Pricing: Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for children 12 through 17 as well as seniors and free for children under 12.
2. What on Earth Exhibit
When/Where: At the Da Vinci Science Center Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
Why Go: Learn what makes the Earth work and become a real weather forecaster! The Earth is an active place. Volcanoes, storms, floods, earthquakes, even plants and animals (including you) are all part of gigantic recycling systems that constantly reshape the planet. This exhibit area also features the WFMZ-TV Weather Station, produced by popular meteorologist Ed Hanna, erosion table, Quakes and Shakes Seismometer, and the La Laguna ocean touch tank.
Pricing: Admission is $11.95 for adults; $8.95 seniors (62 and above); $8.95 for children 4 through 12; and children 3 and under are free.
3. Kid's Exploration Day
When/Where: Saturday, March 26t at America On Wheels. The museum is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy racing your match box cars for speed and distance, license plate rubbings, create the car of the future with model magic fun and a museum scavenger hunt.
Pricing: Admission is $7 for adults; $5 seniors; $3.50 children and free for those 4 and under.
4. Sadecky's Puppet Show
When/Where: Saturday, March 26 at 11 a.m. at the JCPenney Court in the Lehigh Valley Mall.
Why Go: "A Need To Read," will be presented and is the story about Spencer, a boy who doesn't like to read, discovering a hidden talent that his parents kept secret, he can physically enter the book of his choice and interact with the characters.
Pricing: Free.
5. Pancake Breakfast Benefit
When/Where: Saturday, March 26 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at UCC Greenawalds located at 2325 Albright Ave. in Allentown.
Why Go: All you can eat with the proceeds benefiting Back Bay Mission’s Trip to Biloxi, Mississippi in 2012 to help Hurricane Katrina victims.
Pricing: Donations accepted.
