Gun Pointed at Driver in Road Rage on Route 222, Police Say
Upper Macungie police are looking for two people, including one who allegedly pointed a gun at a driver, in an alleged road rage incident Sunday night on Route 222.

Upper Macungie police are seeking witnesses to an alleged road rage incident Sunday night in which a passenger in a blue 2003 Hyundai allegedly pulled and pointed a gun at a driver on Route 222 in the township.
Police in a news release described the suspected passenger as a black man in his 20s, with short hair and wearing a black shirt. They said the pistol had a silver slide and black handle. They described the suspected driver as a white woman, also in her 20s, with short dirty-blond hair.
The road rage was reported at 8:03 p.m. Sunday near the Route 222 split, by the Home Towne Diner.

According to Upper Macungie police:
—A man and his family were traveling north on Route 222 from Reading. As they reached the end of the Kutztown bypass in Berks County, a blue 2003 Hyundai with the Pennsylvania registration of HGS-8921 attempted to pass them, and when unable to do so, pulled in behind them and continued along.

—As both vehicles reached the Route 222 split near the Home Towne Diner, the the driver of the Hyundai pulled out and began to pass, but intentionally drifted toward the other vehicle. That forced the driver of the other vehicle to pull off the roadway to avoid being struck.
— The passenger in the Hyundai pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the other driver, who then backed off and continued to follow the suspects until police could arrive.
— The suspects continued north on Route 222 toward Allentown.
As of early Monday, no one was in custody, according to the release.

In another alleged road rage case in March, a gun was fired into a Bethlehem woman’s car along Interstate 78 near the Route 33 interchange. A New Jersey man has been charged with attempted homicide in the case.
