Parkland Hires Assistant Track Coach, Others

The Parkland School Board approved the hiring of six people at its meeting Tuesday night:

* Stephen J. Ott, as assistant track and field coach at for the 2011-2012 school year. He will receive a contracted stipend of $4,105. Ott replaces Douglas Finley, who resigned.

* Timothy S. Chappelear, as teaching assistant at , effective Dec. 7, at an annual salary of $24,139, prorated. Chappelear replaces Sandra Pizzolatta, who resigned.

* Lorraine A. de la Fuente, as a part-time teaching assistant at Parkland High School (it was effective Nov. 17), at an hourly rate of $16.95. She replaces Elizabeth Guldin, who resigned.

* Rachel L. Galloway, as a Title I aide at (it was effective Nov. 22), at an hourly rate of $15.72. Galloway replaces Wendy Didra, who resigned.

* Peter Sherman, as a mentor for Kathy Khanuja, a part-time English teacher at Parkland High School. He will receive a contracted stipend of $885.47. Sherman will work through the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

* Sherry L. Deal, as a spring musical accompanist at Parkland High School, for the 2011-2012 school year. She will receive a contracted stipend of $1,116.

The school board also accepted two retirements:

* Kathryn E. Lentz, a guidance counselor at Parkland High School, is retiring after 19 years of service, effective at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

* Sandra L. Bobenko, a part-time custodian, is retiring after 14 years of service, effective Jan. 13.

The board also approved a change of status for Jennifer L. Wells, an art teacher at , from short-term substitute to substitute for a temporary vacancy.

Wells will work at an annual salary of $48,671, prorated, effective Dec. 6, through April 4.
