Summer time is the perfect time to get out and explore. Spending a day in a new place can be a blast, and you don’t need to wander far from home to do it. Here are five one-tank trips that you and your wallet will love!
Yuengling Brewery, Pottsville Pa.: Did you know America’s Oldest Brewery is just around the corner? Yuengling Brewery is a landmark for beer lovers. It’s located less than an hour from Upper Mac in Pottsville, Pa. And you can take a tour of this foamy facility for free! If you’ve never been inside a brewery, it’s a site to see…and the samples at the end are a great way to end your stay!

Great Wolf Lodge, Mt. Pocono, Pa: Head north to a resort that’s making waves. Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos is an incredible indoor water park…one of the largest in the country. But this places offers much more than just water slides and slippery rides. Enjoy shopping, dining, a spa, and first-class accommodations as well. This place is a family favorite with lots to do for the kids, too! And no matter how the weather is outside, the water park stays at a constant 84 degrees, so you can make a splash… rain or shine.

Jim Thorpe, Pa: It’s a small town that’s a big tourist attraction. Located just off the Lehigh River, Jim Thorpe is a hot spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy whitewater rafting, kayaking, and swimming. Or if you prefer to stay on land, Jim Thorpe was rated as one of the top three mountain biking destinations in the country. Horseback riding, paintball, and train rides add to your action-packed day. With so much to do so close to home, you may need to do this one-tank trip a few times to fit in all of the fun this town has to offer!

Knoebels Grove, Elysburg, Pa: With Dorney Park so close to home, it may be easy to overlook other amusements parks. But Knoebels Grove is one of the most unique and family-friendly parks out there. First off, admission is free…great for moms who’d rather watch than ride the coasters. Knoebels offers a mix of coasters, carousels, and water park rides, so there is something for everyone. And let’s not forget the food. Food Network gave this Central Pa. park the top spot for amusement park eats in the U.S.! You can also take advantage of the on-site campground and turn this one-tank trip into a weekend getaway.

Endless Mountains Wine Trial, Northeast Pa: With 13 wineries featured on the trail, you can plan you own unique adventure. Whether you like red or white, sweet or dry, you’ll be sure to find your favorite wine at one of these vibrant vineyards. Most of the wineries are located just a few miles off Route 6, so it’s an easy-to-follow path that’s sure to please.
