"While it sometimes seems that Magistrates feel a need to twist or stretch the law to match the result which they are trying to reach, I won’t do that. Instead, as a lawyer, I firmly believe in following the law," Clever said in a release.
Clever also said in his release that a priority of his candidacy is to take all of the court costs connected with court cases and to impose those costs on the offenders, instead of making taxpayers pick up that cost.
Clever's release notes that he has served in an advisory position on an East Penn School District Blue Ribbon Task Force on education for gifted students and served as a commissioner, on the Public Safety Commission for Lower Macungie Township.
"Our Pennsylvania law has recently created numerous options for dealing with both juveniles and adults who do not yet have a criminal record, including some options under programs which deliver the punishment or other remedies which are appropriate, while making it possible for non-criminals to keep their records clean for the future, assuring their viability in the job market," he said in the release.
Clever said more information can be found at his website: www.CleverforJudge.com.
All three candidates are cross-filed on the Republican and Democratic tickets. The race could be decided May 17 should one person carry both tickets in the primary election.
