Rush Hour Tractor Trailer Fire Closes I-78 Westbound
Routes 78 and 22 westbound turned into parking lots during rush hour.
Fire crews from Upper Macungie Township fire departments were called to the
scene of a tractor trailer fire on I-78 westbound just east of Route 100
Thursday morning.
Radio reports of Lehigh county 911 reported the rear trailer of a tandem tractor trailer was on fire, and that the front trailer may have contained hazardous material.
Emergency crews were able to separate the trailers and contain the fire to the rear trailer. No hazardous materials were involved in the fire.
Additional fire crews from Lower Macungie and South Whitehall fire
departments were called to supply additional water and manpower.
