Trexlertown Applebee's Helping To Fight Cancer

The restaurant franchise is one of 300 raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

From now through August 5, Applebee’s patrons can help find a cure for childhood cancer.

For the seventh straight year, the Trexlertown restaurant – along with more than 300 other Applebees’ locations across the country – will raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Customers will have an opportunity to donate $5 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and get $5 off an Applebee’s Carside or To Go order in return. They will also be entered in a drawing to win free Applebee’s food for a year.

Additionally, Applebee’s will donate 25 cents from each purchase of lemonade, frozen lemonade, and Bacardi spiked lemonade.

“We are extremely excited to participate,” said Assistant General Manager Kim Beers. “It brings our staff and the community together.”

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started in 2005 to raise money for and awareness of childhood cancer.  The Foundation is named for Alexandra Scott, who, despite her own cancer, set up a lemonade stand in her front yard and raised $2,000 in a single day to help other sick children.

Alex died in 2004, but her mission lives on.

“It’s amazing how more and more every year people know about Alex’s Lemonade Stand and what we’re trying to do, so that’s exciting,” Beers said.

Nationwide, Applebee’s has raised over $2 million dollars for ALSF.
