Wounded Warriors Race Raised Nearly $10,000
About 200 people took part in the Keystone Wounded Warriors 5K Race/Walk in Upper Macungie last month.
The Keystone Wounded Warriors raised close to $10,000 to aid service members and veterans through its 5K Race/Walk at Lone Lane Park in Upper Macungie on May 6.
Keystone Wounded Warrior Director Sam Johnson said 200 people participated in the race/walk, which is “a great number for a first event.”
“We were truly honored to have the turn out that we did,” said Johnson, a Marine Reservist, in an e-mail. “It just goes to show the patriotic spirit of the community to support our injured heroes in such a way.

“It was a terrific event,” said Rich Kiser, chairman of the Upper Macungie Recreation Board, who volunteered at the race.
The nonprofit Wounded Warriors' mission is to "honor and empower" men and women from all branches of military service, especially those wounded after Sept. 11, 2001. Since 2010, the organization has helped 73 in Pennsylvania with everything from handicapped ramps for homes to roof repairs to gift cards for groceries, according to Johnson.
