Arcadia Genetic Counseling Program hosts tenth annual Bowl-a-thon at Thunderbird Lanes
Proceeds benefit the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund
The Arcadia Genetic Counseling Program is hosting its 10th annual Bowl-a-thon to benefit the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund (KADMF) on Saturday, April 11 at the Thunderbird Lanes in Willow Grove. Tickets, available through any genetic counseling student or at the door, are $10 per person and include food, beverages, shoe rental, raffle ticket and bowling.
The Program has been holding the bowl-a-thon for KADMF for the past ten years, since Peggy Dolan, KADMF executive director, first spoke to the students about the personal and financial toll of caring for a child with a critical, chronic illness. Dolan has been addressing the Genetic Counseling students every year since then. Kathleen Valverde, Director of the Genetic Counseling Master’s Program said, “Lindsey Close Campbell, a student in the program, suggested and organized the first bowl a thon. She felt that our program should contribute to the work of the KADMF. All of the proceeds are donated to the Fund and we average about $1200-$1500 a year. I also share Peggy’s sentiment that whatever we raise no matter the amount will benefit a family in need even in some small way. We all look forward to the event and the students learn the importance of giving back to our community and families.”
