Communty Shows Strong Support for UM Library's First Friday Event

Over 250 residents and several local businesses give reason why the Upper Moreland Free Public Library's First Friday in February event continues to be such a success.

The Upper Moreland Free Public Library (UMFPL) held its fourth-annual First Friday in February Family ‘Fun’-raiser event on Feb. 3.

The event, organized by the Friends of the UMFPL, attracts nearly 300 participants and raises nearly $2,000 to help preserve public programming of the library.

“I really believe in Upper Moreland Township, it’s why I work in this library rather than a big chain,” Margie Peters, UMFPL director, said “This is all about the community. “

Peters said she is grateful for the support the community shows by participating in the First Friday event at the Library.

This year’s event featured several activities from crafts to indoor bowling, as well as the magical performance of Richard Gustafson.

Several local  businesses and restaurants also helped provide activities and refreshments, completing the evening’s festivities.
