Debut book is rich with ideas and spirit

Marie Higgins of Willow Grove wrote a book on what she knew: Her garden, her bird houses, cooking, walking, her husband and her children.

SPROUTING SPIRITUAL GROWTH - a Memoir and Guide to Spiritual Growth - by
Marie Higgins.

This is a remarkable book, especially because it is Ms. Higgins very
first book.

Many people nowadays are seeking meaning and purpose in life. This is
particularly true in 2017 with the election of President Trump. His
followers seem to nod their heads and accept all his lies and deceits.

This is why we need Ms. Higgins' book more than ever. No matter what
your religion or whether or not you believe in God, this is an essential
book, with questions at the end of every chapter.

Well-written and easy-to-read, she discloses intensely personal
information, and writes, "I'll bet that God has innumerable reasons why
God likes every aspect of each of us. To recognize God in every person
is something we are called to do."

Certainly not easy to do, but with Ms. Higgins' guidance, we can
certainly try it. She provides exercises after each of the 10 chapters.

She is also an extraordinary poet. Her truthful and inspiration poems
appear after each chapter. She suggests we keep a "Gratitude List." Here
are a few lines from her poem, "The Gratitude List." You'll notice how
visual they are. The reader joins her in her journey.

My home pleases, in all the seasons / red, green, orange, blue and brown.

These earth tones ground me,

leading me gently to my dawn walks

along the Pennypack Creek.

It rambles as my friend and I do the same.

We listen to each other.

Clients come next (she is a massage therapist)

My physical body supports me with strength.

She writes about the huge garden in her back yard and all the critters
that visit. Bird houses swing back and forth as cow birds visit rent-free.

Ms. Higgins has a book list that helped her as she wrote "Sprouting
Spiritual Growth."

I had the great pleasure of recently meeting Marie Higgins. We discovered we're
neighbors in suburban Philadelphia. It's synchronicity or God leading
the way. You will notice that while you read the book - or just pick it
up to read her many wise passages - that synchronicity will follow you
around if you focus and keep an open mind.
