EASTERN Collision Repair Student Holds Car Show to Raise $2,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Collision Repair/Upper Moreland High School senior, Tyler Swaby, has raised $2,000 for leukemia research. On March 22nd, Tyler held a car show at Station Park in Hatboro to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A couple of months ago, Tyler found out that his best friend’s Aunt was diagnosed with leukemia. Tyler knew that he wanted to do something about it, so he searched for information on leukemia research and decided that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was where he wanted to donate. Tyler went through a lot to make this important day special. He made flyers, donation forms, and went to every store in a 20 mile radius to distribute information.
Tyler charged each car in the show $1 for a parking space. He also held silent auctions and raffled baskets throughout the day. Tyler noted that many individuals donated to the car show ahead of time once they heard what it was for.

Tyler chose the Collision Repair Program at EASTERN because he participated in the Summer Fun Automotive and Collision Repair program as an 8th grader and truly enjoyed the collision repair aspect. In the fall, Tyler will be attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) where he will pursue his post-secondary education in diesel mechanics.
EASTERN’s Collision Repair program student benefits from a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience needed to carry out repairs on motor vehicles. Students benefit from the use of Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair enhanced curriculum.
