On July 1, 2014, EASTERN Cosmetology students participated in a competition in which they created four different patriotic nail designs in honor of July 4th. EASTERN staff members judged the designs and voted on their top three styles. The top three winning looks were created by Gabrielle Monterosso, an upcoming senior at Abington High School; Victoria Skrot, an upcoming senior at Abington High School; and Victoria Shaw, a 2014 Upper Moreland High School graduate. The EASTERN Cosmetology students who competed are currently working towards the completion of their 1,250 required hours necessary in order to take the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology Exam.
"This was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the skills we have obtained in the nail design aspects of Cosmetology," said first place winner, Gabrielle Monterosso. "The Cosmetology program at EASTERN is truly preparing us for successful careers in the field. This competition really encouraged us to think creatively and push us artistically."
EASTERN's Cosmetology program provides the skills necessary to begin a career in the cosmetology field. In Pennsylvania, as well as other states, cosmetologists and nail technicians must be licensed to practice in the field.
