
April 15: Bending the Rules of the Lead Sheet: a Jazz Improvisation Clinic Clinicians will include:
Carl Bahner on drums - Carl is lead percussion teacher at the Rock & Roll After School in Phoenixville, and graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Music Performance. He has lead workshops with players like Gerald Veasley (Grover Washington, Jr., Gerald Levert) and Dave Uosikkinen (the Hooters, Alice Cooper).
Madison Rast leads bass: he is a lecturer in Jazz Bass at Temple University with M. M. from Virginia Commonwealth; his solid and steady bass lines have supported many notable musicians including Donald Byrd, Mickey Roker, John Swana, Terell Stafford, and Eric Alexander.
Mike Lorenz is on guitar and is from Philadelphia, PA and attended Moravian College. He leads an original jazz quartet, the Mike Lorenz Quartet, which features some of the most in-demand musicians in the Philadelphia area as well as its surrounding areas such as Smalls Jazz Club in New York City, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Ars Nova Workshop/Sci Fi Philly series, Tritone and the Moonstone Arts Center.

This jazz clinic is directed toward high school students, college students and those interested in perfecting their jazz skills. Middle school students will be considered with a recommendation from their jazz conductors.
