The Village Players of Hatboro have announced the second production of their 64th Season. It’s the comedy, “Four Weddings and an Elvis” by local playwright Nancy Frick. The show premieres on Friday, January 6th at 8:00 p.m. The theater is located at 401 Jefferson Avenue in Hatboro. For information, call the box office at 215-675-6774.

The show takes place in a small, tacky wedding chapel in Las Vegas. The proprietor Sandy (Gina Salamone) guides a series of couples as they take the big leap. In the first act, Stan (Jon Zuker) and Bev (Sharon Cerauli) arrive for a quickie marriage to get back at their ex-spouses. John/Elvis (Greg Davis) shows up to officiate the procedures with a special show biz twist. In the next act, two washed up TV actors Vanessa (Debbie Lewis) and Bryce (Rich Hall) try to jump start their moribund careers by getting hitched. There to help them is Lou (Doug Tague), a minister/Elvis impersonator way past retirement age. Act Three features the mild manner postal clerk Marvin Marvel (Ed Young), who is engaged to his exact opposite, Fiona (Colleen Mackle). She is just out prison for bank robbery when her ex-boyfriend Fist (Kyle Aptacy) escapes to break up the nuptials. All the characters return for the final act for a surprise wedding.
The play was written by local playwright Nancy Frick. Other shows by Ms. Frick include, For Goodness Sake, Exit Date, and Roomies all produced at the Village Players of Hatboro. Her plays are very popular with many of the local community theaters in the area. The show is directed by Fran Carroll whose past productions include, Three Bags Full, Play On! and Dearly Departed.
“Four Weddings and an Elvis” opens on Friday, January 6th, 2012 with an 8:00 p.m. curtain. Tickets are only $12. The show runs the next three weekends in January. There are two Sunday matinees on January 8th and January 15th at 2:00 p.m. Matinee tickets are only $10.
