Despite the harsh winter, members of the Freedom Steps committee continued to work to ensure that this year's 5k goes on once again. Working with local businesses and other troop support organizations we are confident that this year's run will be another success. Whether our troops are at land or sea we will continue to send them packages until they come home. Since last year's 5k we have shipped over 75 packages to our brave men and women. One recipient who recently received a couple of our packages wrote, "...I want to say thank you so much to your organization for taking time out of your busy lives to reach out to us. It really means a lot to know there are people thinking of us back home. The contents of the care packages were enjoyed by everyone here. The St. Patrick’s Day items were a hit… we made green pancakes for breakfast :)"
We are all once again looking forward to this year's event being held at Masons Mill Park on Sunday May 4th. The 5k is open to runners and walkers. Registration begins at 8am with the race starting at 9am. There will be an opening ceremony prior to the race's start. You can register online at www.pretzelcitysports.com or visit our website at www.freedomsteps5k.com to download a mail-in registration form.
We hope to see you on Sunday May 4th to support our troops.
