Hatboro Celebrates HatOberFest Featuring Food Pantry Donation Drive

HatOberFest is month-long celebration in Hatboro

The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) (www.hatborochamber.org) month-long HatOberFest celebration will include a community effort to help stock local food pantries including Lehman Methodist Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church. Non-perishable foods and household items are the recommended donations. Drop-off sites include the Hatboro chamber office, Hatboro Federal Savings, the Hatboro YMCA, Susquehanna Bank, and KP Kitchen Crafts.

The event highlight of the 2014 HatOberFest is Hatboro’s “Tricentennial Kick-off Celebration” on Saturday, October 25th, from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., at the Blair Mill Inn in Horsham. Tickets are $35 and tables of 10 are $250. This is a buffet dinner dance with beer tasting and a cash bar. Music is by Marlin DJ Entertainment and there will be raffle prizes and a 50/50. HatOberFest’s “Healthy Habits Week” segment runs through October 18th, and will focus on “National Childhood Nutrition Week” to educate parents and children about the importance of having a healthy diet and exercise program.

KP Kitchens will host a “Pick an Apple” contest on Saturday, October 18th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Children can select a free apple to enjoy, and if the apple has a special sticker on it they will get a prize. KP Kitchen Crafts will also host “Paint a Pumpkin” on that same day and time.

Also on Saturday, Hatboro’s Union Library will hold the “Monster Mash Halloween Bash” featuring scary stories, treats, games and crafts. Halloween costumes are welcome and the time is 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., for children ages three to nine.

Later that day, the Tryzub-Ukranian American Sports Center will be the site of “Rocktoberfest in the 040” from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., and tickets are $30 for pre-purchase at the chamber office, or $35 at the door. The event is produced by the W.K. Bray Masonic Lodge.

On Thursday, October 23rd, the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce will hold a “Community & Business Networking Event” at the Crooked Eye Brewery at 13 East Montgomery Avenue from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Admission is a non-perishable food item donation for area food banks. Please call or email the chamber to RSVP by October 17th.

During the last week of HatOberFest, the Hatboro YMCA (www.philaymca.org/branches/hatboro) will hold its 8th Annual Skeleton Skurry 5K/1 Mile Run on Saturday, October 25th, at Pennypack Elementary beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Hatboro Halloween Stroll with “trick or treating” in Hatboro’s downtown business district will also take place on Saturday the 25th. Participating businesses will post a flyer in the store window.

2014 seasonal activities will also feature the Hatboro Residents’ Association Farmers’ Market every Friday evening at the Hatboro Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until dusk.

The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce hosts special and annual events to support area businesses, both large and small, including the Hatboro Holiday Parade, and Moonlight Memories Car Show. Hatboro will celebrate its 300th Birthday in 2015.
