'Heavy' Fire Damages Home In Upper Moreland Township

Willow Grove and Upper Moreland firefighters were assisted by fire units from Hatboro, Horsham, and Southampton in the early Thursday fire

UPPER MORELAND TOWNSHIP, PA —An early morning "heavy" fire is under investigation after firefighters battled the blaze with assistance from numerous companies from surrounding communities.

The Willow Grove Fire Company posted on Facebook that Station 10 (the Upper Moreland Fire Department and the Willow Grove Fire Company) was dispatched at 4:35 a.m. for a building fire on the 400 block of Bensal Road in Upper Moreland Township.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor. The fire is still under investigation at this time.

There was no report of injuries sustained in the blaze.

Additional mutual aid from fire companies, EMTs, and police departments was provided by: the Hatboro Fire Department, the Horsham Fire Department, the Warminster Fire Department, the Southampton Fire Department, the Hartsville Fire Company, Second Alarmers Rescue, the Upper Moreland Police Department, and the Hatboro Police Department.

The Horsham Fire Company said it sent out the Quint, Deputy, and Utility 15 with a total of eight personnel to assist Upper Moreland. Crews operated for more than an hour before returning to service.

"Special Service 93 (FF Lomas) responded to assist Montgomery County Station 10 on a dwelling fire this morning. A quick response from Station 10 prevented this fire from being much worse," The Hartsville Fire Company posted.
