From a young age, Cassidy was inspired by the culinary arts field. She enjoyed watching the cooking channel and wanted to become a chef. Through Upper Moreland High School, she learned about EASTERN’s Culinary Arts program, and saw this as a great way to begin her future.

“Culinary Arts at EASTERN has taught me so much, and I feel as though I am ready to face the real world,” said Cassidy. I have learned that you can do anything you set your mind to. Not only am I receiving this scholarship, but I also obtained college credits through my program at EASTERN and a statewide articulation agreement with MCCC.”

In addition to this scholarship, Cassidy will be mentored by MCCC’s Culinary Director, and will have the opportunity to be mentored by members of the MCCC Culinary Arts Advisory Board. Her ultimate goal after completing her education is to work in a restaurant as a head chef and, later in life, open up a restaurant with her father.

EASTERN’s Culinary Arts program enables students to acquire a variety of skills including soup and sauce preparation, preparation of meat, fish and poultry entrees, baking, kitchen sanitation, purchasing and inventory controls.
