The Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks offers a robust cross-section of events for those looking to take the whole family out, indulge a hobby, or discover something new.

According to a press release, a sampling of what you can expect to find at the Center includes: pampered pups, LGBT-focused comic books, retro collectables, funky treasures and a festive dance party.”

The Interweave Bead Fest, August 19-23, offers a jaw-dropping assortment of hands-on workshops for all experience levels. Shop beads, gems, tools and even finished jewelry. $12-$15. Workshop tickets separate from general admission.

The Eagle Arms Weapons Show, August 8-9 & October 2-4, showcases hunting rifles, military surplus, hunting knives and books, timed for the upcoming gaming seasons. $10.

Go old school at Retro Con, September 12-13. The convention spotlights popular toys from the 60’s through ‘90s. Classic gaming systems will also be set up for fan boys and girls to play. $15-$17, children ages 12 & under free.

Witness mind-blowing creations made entirely of LEGO® bricks at Brick Fest Live on the same weekend,September 12-13. $22, ages 2 & under free.

The Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, September 17-20, will feature over 600 quilts and garments presented in gallery style as well as more than two hundred vendor booths. $12-$14, ages 16 & under free. Workshop tickets separate from general admission.

Shop early for the necklace to go with every holiday party at the International Gem and Jewelry Show,September 18-20. $6 - $8, must be 8+ to attend.

Ommm, yes! The Mind, Body and Spirit Expo, October 2-4, is the largest of its kind in the Northeast United States, featuring beautiful astral photography, jewelry, innovative lectures, psychics, and body workers. $5 - $18, combo deals available. Lectures tickets separate from general admission.

Navratri is a nine-day festival celebrated in the fall honoring the Hindu goddess Durga. All are welcome to experience traditional Indian music and dance at Garba & Dandiya Night on Sunday, October 25th. $20, ages 5 and under free.

At the Sugarloaf Craft Festival, November 6-8, more than 300 top artisans exhibit and sell unique pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fashion, home décor, furniture and home accessories, items for the garden, and photography. Show also includes live music and children’s entertainment from Middle Earth Studios. $10, ages 12 & under free.

Caffeine addicts can get their fix at the popular Coffee & Tea Festival, November 7-8. First 1,000 attendees who walk through each day get a free gift bag. $20, ages 12 & under free.

From November 12-15, the EXPO Center will be taken over by 2,000 top dogs of over 150 breeds! The Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Shows featuring The National Dog Show presented by Purina® offers a full slate of canine competitions, athletic dog exhibitions, plus family-friendly activities and hands-on fun. Saturday’s show is The National Dog Show, a Thanksgiving tradition telecast by NBC. $14, ages 4-12 $7, ages 3 and under free.
