Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide In Montco Crash

Edwin Olivo allegedly failed to properly secure the trailer component of his tractor trailer before departing from Reading on April 27: DA.

Vehicular homicide charges have been levied against a man arrested in connection with a Lower Providence crash on April 27, according to the Montgomery County District Attornery Risa Vetri Ferman.

Edwin Olivo allegedly failed to properly secure the trailer component of his tractor trailer before departing from Reading at about 6 a.m. on that day, the DA said.

Olivo was later driving on South Park Avenue when the truck began fading out of the northbound lane. When he tried to swing the truck back onto course, the trailer came loose and struck an oncoming vehicle, according to the DA.

The impact killed Jermon Jeffers, the driver of the other vehicle, another tractor-trailer, the DA said.

Olivo was using a Pennsylvania drivers license at the time of the crash, which he acquired just as his original New York license was about to be suspended, the DA said.
