Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $400 Million

Got the luck of the Irish? It could pay off in this week’s lottery, but you have to buy a ticket.

With no one matching the winning numbers of Friday night’s Mega Millions jackpot, the pot grows to $400 million for Tuesday’s drawing. The jackpot has been building since the last winner on Jan. 3.

The $400 million jackpot is the sixth largest in the United States. The largest jackpot on record was $656 million on March 30, 2012.

A lump sum payout of Tuesday's $400 million jackpot would net the winner $224.8  million before taxes.
