Montco Girl Wins Google Science Fair With Computational Learning

Amazing research and work from a high school student in Montgomery County.

ABINGTON, PA — An Abington Senior High School student has been named the winner of the prestigious U.S. Google Science Fair for Pennsylvania.

Sofiya Lysenko, a junior at Abington, won for her project on intelligent nanorobotic systems for neurodegenerative disease treatment, the school district said.

Her project was related to research she completed while enrolled in Abington's Advanced Placement Capstone Program.

"I have a passion for computer science, and am fascinated by how we can computationally program or instill computation into living things or components," Sofiya writes in the "about me" section of her project.

The Google Science Fair is the largest online science fair in the world open to students age 13 to 18, offering them the opportunity to pursue their interest in science and technology.
