Montco Heroin Addict Steals $7k From Couple That Invited Him Over: Cops

The couple caught the alleged theft in the act, police said.

A Montgomery County man who admitted he is a heroin addict allegedly stole over $7,000 from a couple that invited him into their home, according to police.

Michael Keppol, 29, was invited in December 2013 to the home of an Upper Southampton couple whose son is friends with him, police said.

Keppol stayed for a few weeks until the family noticed money from their bank accounts and checks missing, police said.

The couple said the banks informed them that Keppol cashed $500 worth of checks using forged signatures, according to police.

The couple noted that the total loss, between checks and cash advances taken out, was $7,086, police said.

When confronted by the couple, Keppol allegedly admitted to stealing the money and said that would steal anything to get his hands on heroin because is an addict, according to police.

Charges were eventually filed in September of 2014, but Keppol was not arrested until Monday, police said.

He is charged with 18 counts of receiving stolen property, nine counts of access device fraud, eight counts each of conspiracy, tampering with records and related charges, according to police.
