MontCo Made Welcomes Area Manufacturers for First-Ever Economic Development Conference

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA (October 20, 2014)—MontCo. Made, an economic development conference for manufacturers in and around Montgomery County, will be held at Montgomery County Community College on Thursday, November 6. The event is the first economic development conference to be hosted by the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority (MCIDA), the Montgomery County Development Corporation (MCDC) and the MFG Alliance of Bucks and Montgomery County. The MCIDA enables manufacturers to borrow money from commercial lenders for permitted capital investments on a tax free basis, often cutting the manufacturer’s interest rate by nearly one-third.
MontCo. Made will feature keynote speaker Harry Moser, founder of the Reshoring Initiative, which works to return manufacturing jobs back to the United States. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about services, including discussions on financing opportunities like tax-exempt financing, the county’s new low-interest small-business loan program, and programs provided to manufacturers by the MCDC, MCIDA and the Commonwealth.
“Manufacturing is an important part of Montgomery County’s economy – we have as many manufacturers in Montgomery County as in any other county in Pennsylvania. For the first time ever, this conference will provide local manufacturers an opportunity to come together, network and learn how they can use existing well-established programs designed to assist and grow manufacturing in America. Our programs are proven and can be used by everyone from start-up makers to long established manufacturers alike,” said Eric J. Pritchard, Esquire, chair of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority board. “We’ve been able to save county manufacturers millions and millions of dollars in interest over the years. We are excited to kick off what will become a successful annual event for the Montgomery County manufacturing community.”
The conference consists of two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The first, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon, is for manufacturers only. The second, running from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. is open to both manufacturers and those who have an interest in and support manufacturing, such as accountants, investment bankers and economic development professionals. Both sessions will include a keynote speech from Moser, in-depth presentations on how manufacturers can take advantage of federal, state and local economic development programs, and networking opportunities.
