Montgomery County Man Sexually Assaulted Young Girl For 5 Years: Report

A Lower Providence man was reportedly sentenced to state prison on Monday for having sex with a young girl over a five-year period.

Craig Thomas Bateman, 55, formerly of East Mount Kirk Avenue, will spend six to 15 years in jail for his actions, according to the Times Herald.

The incidents occurred across the township from the time the girl was 9, reports state.

Bateman was evaluated by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board, which classified him as a “violent sexual predator,” reports state.

“She is still afraid of the defendant and still has to close her curtains every night because she is afraid that someone will look into her room and invade her sense of security the way the defendant did,” the assistant District Attorney reportedly said.

The girl and her family reported the incidents when she was 14, according to reports.
